Humans are intelligent and resilient creatures in the
natural world. Although we are capable of great achievements and should lead
happy lives, not every individual experiences happiness.
Are humans happy? You might think this is a naive question, but despite
possessing a sharp mind, a strong body, and a sensitive heart, humans
experience both joy and sorrow. There are so many things we have to do,
learn, earn, and live for... what do we really have in life? We spend more
than a decade striving for a better future, but the process of striving is
so painful! Even when we finally achieve the so-called good life, happiness
disappears in an instant, and we are unsatisfied with our current situation,
constantly striving for new desires. Human desires are constantly expanding
and difficult to satisfy, as evidenced by the story of "The Fisherman and
His Wife." How many people live like this? Is this way of life happy or not?
Sometimes, I really wish I could become something other than a human, like a
cloud, a bird, or a fish.
Although clouds face strong winds and can dissipate at any moment.
Although birds face hunters and can die at any moment.
Although fish face fishermen and can be caught at any moment.
However, clouds have been pure white, birds have sung, and fish have been
happy.
But what about me? I have lived in comfort since childhood, but in my heart,
I am full of worry. I study every day just to earn high marks, but what
about my happiness?
Su Dongpo once said, "People have joys and sorrows, partings and reunions,
just like the moon has phases." This is true. However, how can the moon's
phases compare to the joys and sorrows of human life? The moon's phases are
caused by the earth and are unchanging. Although the moon appears to have
phases, I do not know its sorrows. In contrast, the joys and sorrows of
humans contain so much pain and sorrow. People use the moon's phases to
comfort their joys and sorrows.
Yes, the suffering and sadness in the world cannot be denied, but we should
focus on how to face and overcome them. We should hope for more
satisfaction, less desire, more dedication, less demands, more
understanding, and fewer complaints. Only then can we reach higher levels of
thinking, and life will be filled with sunshine and happiness! |
