Maybe God isn't that unfair. Maybe I won't be as unlucky as
Robinson Crusoe. But fate has a way of randomly throwing misfortunes at
people, and it could be you, me, or him. Whoever it falls on, we all lament
our bad luck and have to endure the test.
People have different views of Robinson Crusoe. Some say he's an adventurer,
some say he's a sailor, some say he's a farmer, some say he's a potter, some
say he's a carpenter...
If I were Robinson Crusoe, if I were the "victim," perhaps I would suddenly
collapse and never get up again. I couldn't possibly become an expert like
Robinson Crusoe in all sorts of fields. But if I didn't survive, and like my
companions, died, then maybe my family would be the ones who collapsed! So I
would be grateful! I would be grateful that I am still alive! Although I
don't know how to find food, how to find a place to live, or how to tame
animals... I know that time can train people into all sorts of experts.
Isn't Robinson Crusoe like that too?! The first pottery he made was rough
and ugly, but later, it was round, smooth, and beautiful. The first sheep
trap he made couldn't catch any sheep, but later, the sheep couldn't get out
once they went in. I think I might be like that too! Time will train me to
become a professional farmer, potter, carpenter...
Will I be happy then? Maybe not. Because I am used to living in a community
and have never tried to survive alone in the wilderness! Indeed, I won't
enjoy being lonely! Maybe I will die of "depression"! So, what's the point
of surviving if I'm going to die soon anyway?
What I lack most is courage! Being timid is my flaw. Let alone encountering
a wild man, even if a modern person suddenly appears behind me on a
pitch-black night, I would be scared to death! Not to mention a wild man!
But Robinson Crusoe is different, he has courage! So he survived and
eventually was rescued!
Compared to Robinson Crusoe, I am far inferior! I am not as good as him! |
