Standing on a mountaintop or riding a cable car, looking
down at the world below, the initial fear is eventually conquered by the
vastness of the universe. At this moment, one can truly appreciate the
enormity of the world, realizing that it cannot be controlled by one's
emotions or desires, unless one holds a position of great power, such as the
president.
However, as ordinary individuals, it can be difficult to find our footing in
this world and to understand the meaning of life. It may take a fall, a cry,
a failure, a growth, or a song to truly appreciate the magnitude of the
world and our place in it. We may feel small, but during a celebrity
meeting, we can be a part of a crowd, and during a national disaster, we can
unite as a nation and feel the power of solidarity.
Humans are destined to live an average life. During our student years, we
wear uniforms and study hard. In our youth, we wear suits and ties,
anxiously looking for a job. In middle age, some still work hard to earn a
living, while others get married and have children. In old age, some can
retire and travel, while others still take care of their grandchildren,
finding happiness in their responsibilities. Regardless of our age, we
should never forget to live life.
When we are tired, we can go outside to take a breath of fresh air, feel the
soil's fragrance mixed with the atmosphere, and relax. When we are sleepy,
we should not worry about anything and just sleep, for it is a great joy.
When we are stressed, why not put on headphones and climb a mountain or go
for a run, letting the sweat wash away our worries? We will surely enjoy the
liberating feeling of total relaxation.
We cannot fully understand each other's hardships and worries because we are
not in each other's shoes. Although we may try to empathize with one
another, we cannot feel the emotions of those in the situation.
Perhaps we cannot change the world around us, but we can change our
immediate surroundings, as each day is unique. Although there will be
tomorrow and the future, we should not expect to have the same day again. We
must climb up the vines, despite their thorns, for letting go will only lead
to a fall.
Born and living - this is the most straightforward life. |
