The Challenges of Being a Student in the 21st Century |
|
As students in the 21st century, all we seem to do is study, study, and study
some more. Gone are the days of childhood innocence and carefree play, yet we
haven't yet developed the sense of urgency that comes with being a high school
student. We are constantly drowning in a sea of homework and pressure from
teachers and parents alike, and it's all so exhausting.
When we come home on the weekends, our parents constantly nag us about homework,
urging us to finish it before we can do anything else. They mean well, of
course, but sometimes it feels like we don't have any freedom to just be
teenagers and have fun. We want to be able to make our own choices and manage
our time, but it seems like our parents don't always understand.
At school, we have to stay for evening self-study sessions that last until after
9pm, leaving us with barely five hours of sleep each night. The workload is so
heavy that we can barely catch our breath, and we wonder if this is really the
"enjoyable" life that adults talk about. Math problems that used to take a few
minutes now take an entire class period, and physics feels like a waste of brain
cells, especially for us girls.
It's a shame that we don't have time to appreciate the beauty around us as we
grow up. We should take a moment to stop and smell the roses, to let our minds
and spirits be purified by nature. We should be able to let go of our worries
and simply enjoy the moment, becoming one with the natural world.
Through it all, we are learning how to take care of ourselves, building up our
knowledge, and making new friends. We learn from those who are kind and avoid
those who are not, and we become better people because of it. I love growing up
and seeing the rainbow after the storm. |
