Life is Like a Cup of Strong Tea

A cup of strong tea always gives a feeling of bitterness and astringency, but if you savor it carefully, you will find a hint of sweetness lingering on your tongue. Life is like this too.

On my life journey, I inevitably encounter the taste of strong tea.

As the sky smudges with the last remaining traces of red, and solitary geese occasionally fly by, I return home with a heavy school bag in hand. It's Friday, and the tense moment of receiving our math midterm results has arrived.

The last class is math, and the teacher holds a stack of papers and says, "Today, we will give feedback on the math grades." She proceeds to call out the scores one by one. My heart races like a little rabbit's. Suddenly, the teacher calls out my name, and I hold my breath, nervously waiting for my score. "78 points." This short and concise sentence is like fire, burning my face red and causing my ears to feel like they are on fire.

After a long time, I finally come back to my senses and notice a lone test paper lying on my desk, with two bright red digits that sting my heart like a knife.

As the evening falls, I am still trapped in the cruel reality. My mom comes in and asks what's wrong, and I can't hold back my tears any longer. They fall from my cheeks like beads falling off a broken necklace. My mom strokes my head, and says nothing, knowing that this is the best way to comfort me.

After a while, I feel much better. My mom brings me a cup of tea, and I reflect on myself: did I not take classes seriously before? Various questions linger in my mind.

Looking at the cup of tea on the table, I take a sip, and it's so bitter and astringent. But after a while, a hint of sweetness lingers on my tongue, making me contemplate.

Life is like a cup of strong tea. Behind the bitterness, there is a sweet aftertaste that can leave a lasting impression on your heart.
