A Walk Down Memory Lane |
|
From a young age, my grandfather would always hold my hand and take me for
walks. He would buy me candy, carry me on his back, walk me to school, and take
me on evening strolls.
One evening, as a five-year-old, I gazed out of the window at the beautiful and
vibrant lights. My grandfather mysteriously asked me, "Ying Luo, would you like
to go for a walk?" Excitedly, I replied, "Yes, please!" I wolfed down my dinner,
wiped my mouth, and ran out the door with my grandfather's hand in mine.
"Grandpa, the moon is so bright tonight!" It was round and full, shining like a
clean and polished gem. "Come on, grandpa! Let's go faster!" I pulled my
grandfather's hand and ran as fast as I could. I was having a great time.
"What are you doing, little girl?" "Nothing..." I turned to look and realized I
had the wrong person. I looked back and saw my grandfather waving at me. I felt
both silly and amused. "Grandpa, please walk faster!" I tugged at my
grandfather's hand and kept going. "Ying Luo, do you want some candied
hawthorn?" "Yes! I want two strings!" The moon was large and round, sitting on a
"black-blue-black-blue cloth." It was breathtakingly beautiful under the
moonlight.
Looking up at the sky, it felt like the sky was smiling down on me. "Ying Luo,
what are you doing standing there?" Suddenly, my grandfather was standing behind
me, patting my shoulder. "Oh, you scared me! Why didn't you say anything?" My
grandfather held my hand and took me to the city park. On the way, we saw the
beautiful sea of lights. Suddenly, I tripped on a stone and almost fell, but my
grandfather caught me just in time.
But my grandfather would never hold my hand again because he passed away,
leaving me with many precious memories. Grandpa, I won't let you down, I will
keep pushing forward. |
