Home Alone: My First Cooking Experience

One morning, my parents had both left for work and I was home alone. They wouldn't be back until evening, and I wondered what I would do. Just then, I noticed a bowl of soy milk and some dumplings that my mother had made on the table. I was relieved to have something to eat, or else I would have gone hungry. I sat down on a stool and savored every bite of the delicious food. After finishing the dumplings, my hunger was satisfied.

As noon approached, I started to worry that I would go hungry again since my parents had not returned home. I decided to take matters into my own hands and try cooking rice and vegetables. After all, I would have to learn how to cook eventually. I washed my hands and put some rice in the electric rice cooker.

Then, I turned it on and walked over to the refrigerator to see what I could find to eat. I grabbed an egg and a tomato, washed the tomato, and scrambled the egg. I chopped the tomato and heated up the gas stove. Once the water had dried, I added some oil to the pan, waited for it to heat up, and then added the egg. Once the egg was cooked, I removed it from the pan and added more oil. Next, I added the chopped tomato and cooked it until it was half-cooked, letting the sour juices come out.

Then, I added the egg back into the pan, added some water, seasoning, and covered the pan with a lid. I cooked it on low heat for a while and then plated the food on a dish that I had washed from the cabinet. I had successfully cooked my own meal for the first time!

I thought to myself, "I did it!"
