A Terrifying Experience at the Amusement Park |
|
During the National Day holiday, my family and I went to Nanjing for a vacation
and attended the Global Carnival. There were so many interesting things that
happened, but one incident still gives me shivers when I think about it.
I remember when we entered the carnival, we could hear piercing screams coming
from a ride called "Don Quixote." It was a giant spinning wheel that rotated in
the air while each seat also rotated 360 degrees. My uncle looked at me and
said, "Are you brave enough to ride it?" I didn't want to appear timid, so I
replied, "What's there to be afraid of?"
I sat on the ride, pretending to be calm, but my heart was beating rapidly with
intense nervousness. As the machine started, I felt like a bullet shot into the
sky, then falling back down rapidly.
At the moment of weightlessness, I felt like my body was scattering like sand. I
wanted to scream, but my mouth wouldn't open. I tried to shout, "Help! Save me!"
but my voice seemed to lag behind. I wanted to enjoy the feeling of the wind
rushing past me, but my fear ruined it all. At that moment, time stood still,
and my heart stopped beating. My rationality disappeared, and anxiety, fear,
restlessness, and regret occupied my entire mind.
Finally, the machine stopped. It felt like my heart had leapt out of my chest,
and my senses returned. Walking on the ground felt like walking on clouds, and I
realized that my legs were shaking.
For the sake of proving my bravery, I paid a hefty price: a painful experience
and an unforgettable memory that remains deeply imprinted in my mind. Perhaps in
the eyes of others, I was brave, but I learned a valuable lesson: not to push
myself beyond my limits in the future. |
