Learning from Experience and Overcoming Obstacles |
|
In life, setbacks, failures, and pain are inevitable. However, being tripped by
the same stone twice is a disgrace. A worm is intelligent, as it maneuvers its
curved body and avoids obstacles. It inspires admiration and emotion within me.
As human beings, we are smarter than a worm, and we should not be tripped by the
same stone twice. Sometimes, though, we stumble over the same stone, indicating
that we are less intelligent than a worm. However, we must not lose heart, for
intelligent people learn from others' mistakes and gain valuable lessons from
their experiences.
I, too, am practicing not to be tripped by the same stone twice.
I recall a time in elementary school when I lost one mark for failing to include
a unit in my math test. I was regretful, but my carelessness was a stumbling
block, and I could not shake it off. Just as I was about to give up, I saw a
quote from the famous Roman orator Cicero that read, "Being tripped by the same
stone twice is a disgrace." This statement encouraged me to persevere, and I
worked tirelessly.
Finally, throughout the rest of my elementary school years, I was no longer
careless on exams or at any other time. Even so, in high school, I continued to
practice not being tripped by the same stone twice.
Experience is the fruit of lessons learned, and lessons learned are the flowers
of growth. Everyone experiences stumbling stones, but this is necessary to
acquire experience and a healthy personality to avoid repeating the same
mistake.
I believe that with perseverance, everyone can be as "intelligent" as a worm and
avoid stumbling over the same stone twice. |
