A Family Trip to the Mountains |
|
On Saturday, the weather was cool and pleasant after the rain. My mother
suddenly decided to take the whole family to the mountains to pick wild
vegetables. Before we set off, my mother prepared three pairs of scissors and
three bags, hoping to bring back as much as possible to make a delicious dish
for dinner.
After walking for about ten minutes, we arrived at the entrance of the mountain
trail and began walking up the winding and muddy path. Various wildflowers lined
both sides of the path, in red, yellow, blue, and white. Some were in clusters,
like delicate necklaces; some hung down like little lanterns, guiding us along
the way. Against the backdrop of small grass and seedlings, these flowers looked
particularly gorgeous. The thick foliage of the trees in the mountains covered
the outside world, and we could only hear various birdcalls. I stepped on the
thick and dry branches and leaves, following closely behind my mother's figure.
She thought she could easily identify what was the Malantou plant and what was
not, but gradually she was confused by the grasses that looked somewhat similar
but had different leaf sizes or flavors. Alas! After searching for a while, we
had no harvest.
There were few people in the mountains, but occasionally we encountered some who
were picking garlic chives, preparing to fry them with eggs at home - this was a
nutritious dish. Some were searching for some herbal plants. According to one
person, cleaning and boiling these herbal plants in water and drinking the
boiled water could help with diuresis.
We continued walking, searching and searching, but eventually gave up on finding
Malantou and instead decided to wander around the mountain, breathing in the
fresh air, and occasionally stopping to smell the flowers. I also held a bamboo
dragonfly toy and flew it towards the blue sky, expressing the joy of flying.
As the sky gradually darkened, we began to head back home. Although we did not
find any Malantou, we felt the vitality of the forest in the mountains. |
