Childhood Memories of Roasting Sweet Potatoes

As a child, I used to love roasting sweet potatoes with my friends. It was always such a fun activity!

One day, I took my buddies to go roast sweet potatoes. However, we didn't have any at home, so we decided to sneak into someone else's field to steal some. After looking around and seeing nobody, we started digging up sweet potatoes. We managed to get about four or five of them, and then we quickly looked around again to make sure nobody was watching us before leaving.

Once we had everything we needed, we started roasting the sweet potatoes. We first used bricks to create a small fire pit, then added a bunch of grass to it. However, no matter how much we tried, we couldn't get the fire started. We ended up throwing in a few pieces of paper, which did the trick and made the fire big and scary. We then added another brick on top of it to help control the flames.

Once the fire settled down a bit, we threw in the raw sweet potatoes. After waiting for about an hour, we thought they were ready and decided to take them out. However, we didn't know how to do it and ended up discussing our options. That's when my friend, Er Ya, suggested, "Let's put out the fire first, and then take out the sweet potatoes!" We all agreed.

Finally, we managed to take the sweet potatoes out of the fire. Suddenly, a man appeared out of nowhere and asked us, "What are you kids doing here?" I was terrified and immediately shouted to my friends, "We have to run! Something's not right!" The man yelled at us to stop, but we just kept running until we were far away from him. When we came back to look for our sweet potatoes, they were gone. We guessed that the man saw them and decided to take them for himself.

Looking back on that day, I still remember the thrill and excitement of roasting sweet potatoes with my friends. Despite the unexpected encounter, it remains a cherished childhood memory.
