The Bold Widow |
|
In the dimly-lit surroundings, two intruders were sneaking into the mansion of
Mrs. Thompson with the hope of stealing her possessions. The duo had been
observing the wealthy widow's daily routine for a week, and they considered her
an easy target.
Scaling up the pillar, they hopped onto the balcony and approached the sliding
door leading to her bedroom. As they quietly unlocked the door, they could hear
the elderly lady snoring. Suppressing their excitement, they nodded at each
other and made their way into the spacious room adorned with elegant art pieces
and antique furniture.
Methodically, the burglars pulled open the drawers, hoping to find valuables,
but their search yielded no results. Suddenly, one of them bumped into a
cabinet, causing Mrs. Thompson to stir from her slumber.
The intruders froze, anticipating the worst. But the lady merely turned in her
bed and muttered to herself before falling back asleep. Unbeknownst to them,
Mrs. Thompson had already spotted their shadows in the moonlight and was
strategizing her next move.
With a fierce yell that startled the men, Mrs. Thompson sprang from her bed,
grabbed her walking stick, and struck them with all her might. The burglars
cried out and tried to dodge the blows, but the woman's loud screams alerted her
staff next door, who rushed over and subdued the perpetrators before pinning
them to the ground.
When the police arrived to arrest the burglars, they were incredulous that they
had been defeated by a brave elderly woman and her loyal staff. |
