There were great streams to cross
and deep woods to pass through. One wagon broke down and they had to leave
it behind. Then the mules died. The, the wheels o another wagon broke. The
women were weak and some were quite ill. Then the horses began to die and
they came to the end of their food supplies.

Niah is one of Sarawak's smaller
national parks, but it is certainly one of the most important and has some
of the most unusual visitor attractions. Besides its luxuriant equatorial
forests with thousands of species of flora, the park is well-known as one of
the birth-places of civilization in the region. The oldest modern human
remains discovered in Southeast Asia were found at Niah, making the park one
of the most important archaeological sites in the world. |
