Dear Aki, I promised you that I would write to you
once I have arrived. The first difference

Jersey and Japan is the time difference. We are ___2___
half a day behind Japan. So when I first arrived, I
really felt like sleeping ___3___
it was just morning here. My parents told me that
this jetlag would probably last ___4___
a few days before my body adjusted to it.
This first week here has been extremely busy. We

our new apartment and unpack all our belongings.
Just yesterday, my parents took me to my new school.
It is huge ! The school hours are longer and there
isn't as much homework. Instead, the pupils here do ___6___

New Jersey is a really big and busy city. This
place seems to be bustling ___7___
activity at all times of the day and night. However,
I have heard that the crime rate is very high so my
parents are constantly reminding me to be careful.

that I have described sounds fun and exciting, it is
kind of lonely here. My parents keep reassuring ___9___
that all that will change in time. Do you think your
