A Humbling Experience |

Spending three days working on a farm in rural China has given me a newfound
appreciation for the difficulties of farming and the challenges faced by
farmers. Prior to this experience, I had never considered the amount of effort
required to produce the potatoes we eat at home. I now understand the
difficulties involved in digging up potatoes and carrying them back home, and
appreciate the hard work that goes into providing for a family.
I started my day after lunch, as I am not an experienced farmer and needed time
to acclimate to the environment. My grandfather drove me to the farm, as I was
not familiar with the area and the journey on foot would have taken too long.
The farm was located on a steep slope, and the work was extremely difficult. I
struggled through the process, sweating profusely, feeling thirsty and hungry,
and my legs felt weak and sore.
Going through this challenging experience has given me a new perspective on
life. I realize that studying and learning is a privilege that I should not take
for granted. The difficulties that farmers face every day are unimaginable, and
their hard work and dedication are what allow us to enjoy the food we eat. This
experience has humbled me and made me appreciate the importance of hard work and
perseverance in achieving success. |
