The action-packed "Furies," a prequel to the acclaimed "Furie," sees star
Veronica Ngo making her directorial debut. The story centers around Bi, an
orphan who joins forces with fellow vigilantes Thanh, Hong, and their leader
Jacqueline to take on a group of human traffickers.
While the ensemble cast doesn't always shine beyond the fight scenes, the
choreography and cinematography match the performers' wild movements. The
villains, led by a demonic pimp, aren't as memorable as the avenging angels they
oppose.
Despite lacking the same ingenious spark as "Furie," "Furies" delivers enough
adrenaline-fueled moments and gritty substance to warrant another related
spin-off. |
