In the year 2065, amidst a devastated Earth, "Foe" tells the story of Junior and
Hen, a troubled couple recruited to help build a spaceship for humanity's
survival. The arrival of a stranger named Terrance brings uncertainty to their
relationship, and the promise of a flesh-and-blood clone of Junior adds a
bizarre twist.
However, the film, directed by Garth Davis and co-written by Iain Reid, fails
to live up to its intriguing premise. Despite the dedicated performances of
Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal, "Foe" stumbles into melodrama and
clichés, offering more questions than
satisfying answers.
The film's attempts to explore complex themes are marred by awkward
close-ups, inconsistent world-building, and a lack of emotional depth, leaving
viewers with a sense of missed potential in this lackluster sci-fi drama. |
