US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is set to embark on a significant visit to
Beijing from July 6th to July 9th, aiming to establish better communication
between the world's two largest economies and address various concerns. As
part of President Joe Biden's efforts to stabilize the US-China relationship and
minimize the risk of conflicts, Yellen will meet with senior Chinese officials
to discuss issues such as the Chinese counterespionage law, climate change, and
debt distress faced by many countries.
While maintaining the US commitment to human rights and national security,
Yellen also intends to foster a healthy economic relationship that encourages
growth and innovation in both countries, rather than seeking to
decouple their economies.
The visit comes shortly after Secretary of State Antony Blinken's trip, which
aimed to stabilize ties between the two nations and prevent their rivalry from
escalating into conflict. |
