China announced its preparation for joint naval exercises with Russia amidst the
ongoing conflict in Ukraine, signaling its continued support for Moscow's
invasion.
Despite facing economic and humanitarian
repercussions from the 16-month-long assault, China claims to remain
neutral but accuses the US and its allies of provoking Russia.
The joint drills involve more than 10 ships and 30-plus aircraft and will
focus on ship-to-ship communications, formation maneuvering, and maritime search
and rescue. China has consistently backed Russia in international forums and
reassured its support since the conflict began.
The exercises come after a meeting between China's defense minister and the
head of Russia's navy, highlighting their strengthened military ties and
cooperation. |
