The Power of Belief

Once upon a time, a team of explorers arrived at a vast desert. Soon, they ran out of water. The captain then took out a water bottle and said, "We still have this bottle of water, but we should wait until we cross the desert before drinking it." The team relied on that bottle of water to survive and eventually made it out of the desert. However, the captain poured the water onto the ground, revealing that the bottle was actually filled with sand.

What sustained these people on the brink of death? Was it water? Was it sand? No, it was their belief. Yes, that bottle of water gave them the belief that they could find water and continue to live once they got out of the desert. They persevered with unwavering belief until they finally escaped safely.

Belief is one of the most important things in life. Without it, we are destined to fail. Many of us have read "Rickshaw Boy," and the character of Xiangzi is an excellent example. In his youth, Xiangzi was full of confidence in life and had a strong belief: to buy a car of his own. However, his dream shattered time and time again. Initially, he could adjust and fight again, but eventually, he was defeated by failure. He lost his dream, lost his belief, and became a walking dead man.

This shows how important belief is to a person. Losing belief means losing direction. People who have lost their direction can only live in a daze, and what is the meaning of their lives then?

Once I asked a friend, "What do you want to do when you grow up?" He laughed and said, "Do whatever suits me." I asked, "What suits you then?" He replied, "I don't know." I laughed.

I don't understand how he can strive without any future expectations or goals. Without belief, he can only be an ordinary person when he grows up.
