In the vast sea of humanity, what is the purpose of life?
Why do we die? What are the causes and effects between these two? I do not
know. But in the blink of an eye, the value of a moment can fluctuate
greatly, and the changes between people are so wondrous.
In ancient times, there was an old man who held his deceased wife's memorial
tablet all day, silently repeating her name and shedding tears. He had three
sons: the eldest was obsessed with money, the second was brave, and the
youngest was lively and adorable, still studying in school.
The old man believed that his time was up and that he would soon reunite
with his wife. So he wrote his will, leaving all his wealth to his three
sons. The eldest son received all the money, the second son received the old
house and ten acres of land, and the youngest son received a new house with
two rooms and three acres of land.
Years passed, and the eldest son squandered all his money while the second
son carefully tended the land and married a beautiful and virtuous wife. The
youngest son became a local official. The eldest son went to his brother for
help, who received and sheltered him. But the eldest son left secretly after
he obtained some money. A few days later, his body was found by night
watchmen.
The old man's will had different outcomes for each son. The second and third
sons accepted their inheritance with equanimity and through their own
efforts, achieved success. The greedy eldest son, on the other hand, coveted
his inheritance and ultimately met a tragic end.
When you let go of something, do not be sad or discouraged. Keep working
hard and good things will come. Letting go is not really giving up, but
rather cherishing and releasing. When you cherish something, you should care
about everything related to it and learn to let go and cherish it.
To cherish and release, to release and cherish. The key lies within oneself,
amidst the causes and effects and the changes between people. |
