Emerald, a white stray cat, had once been a wild, unruly
feline living in the alleyways. She fought for food and dominance among her
adopted siblings and learned to survive by following the law of the alley.
However, one day, a stroke of luck changed her life forever.
As a delivery boy accidentally spilled flour on Emerald, her future owner,
an eccentric rich lady with a fondness for stray cats, caught sight of the
beautiful white feline. Emerald's life transformed from scrounging to
luxury, with a cozy and comfortable life in a pampered household.
Emerald reminisces about her past as she gazes out the window, watching the
rain pouring down on the street below. She remembers her days in the alleys,
fighting for food and survival. She remembers how she once inspired her
siblings to raid a restaurant, which ended up being a disaster. She
remembers the days and nights she went thirsty and hungry, and how the rain
was a respite from days of thirst.
As she continues to peer out the window, Emerald sees familiar shapes and
sounds from her past, but she knows that not many of her former alley cat
companions would have survived. She acknowledges that she was tough and had
more than nine lives, but she feels a twinge of sadness for her siblings and
the other alley cats who were not as fortunate.
Emerald's thoughts are interrupted by her beloved mistress, who calls her
over and pats her on the head. Emerald jumps onto her mistress's lap,
purring contentedly. As she snuggles in the cushioned lap, she realizes that
she is happy with her current life. She knows how fortunate she is to have
been adopted and to have a warm, cozy home.
As she gazes up at her mistress, Emerald thinks to herself, "How wonderful
to have another half!" She knows that her mistress is not just her owner,
but her companion and friend. And in that moment, Emerald knows that she has
found her forever home. |
