The Silent Love of Grandma |
|
"Ding-ding..." The phone rang, and I answered it. My mother's voice came through
the phone, saying, "Your grandmother is sick, but it's just a minor ailment,
nothing serious. Your grandma just wants to see you." Upon hearing this, I felt
that something was amiss. I thought to myself, if it weren't something
significant, my mother wouldn't have called me to come home. So, after hanging
up the phone, I burst into tears.
That evening, I boarded the car to go back home. Throughout the journey, I kept
comforting myself, saying that Grandma was only ill, and it would be alright
once I reached home.
The next morning, I returned home. I saw a white note hanging outside the door,
and I froze. I told myself it wasn't true, it couldn't be true. But the truth
remained, no matter how much I wished otherwise. It wasn't within my power to
change it. It wasn't until the following noon that I bid farewell to my dearest
grandma.
I always believed that she was the person I was most proud of because I had
Grandma. But all of that vanished with her departure.
Until that day, when I saw a grandma anxiously waiting outside the school, I
thought she must be waiting for her grandson or granddaughter to finish school.
It plunged me into deep contemplation...
I remember when I was little, every day after school, I would see a familiar
figure in the distance. He never missed a day; he was waiting for me to come
home for dinner. I would rush up to him, calling out "Grandma" with a sweet
voice, and his face would light up with joy.
Regardless of the seasons, be it spring, summer, autumn, or winter, in freezing
cold or scorching heat, every morning when I woke up in a daze, I would see a
figure that couldn't be more familiar. She would laboriously lift the iron pot,
and her back would curve like a bow. That was Grandma making a delicious
breakfast for me.
No matter where I was, even if I fell down or was bullied by other kids, there
was always a figure approaching me from nearby. Then, she would squat down and
dissolve everything with her kind smile. Her laughter could make "the sea never
run dry, and the mountains never grow old."
You might think she was ordinary, but in her ordinariness, she gave me a love
that I will never regret in this lifetime.
No matter where I go in the future, regardless of the adversity I face, that
figure will be the unwavering motivation for me to move forward. |
