and drugs. The last of these has led to the downfall of entire nations, such
as with opium. Despite this knowledge, people continue to turn to drugs for
various reasons, including pleasure, physical relief, forgetfulness, and
peer pressure. While small doses of drugs can act as medicines, larger
amounts can be harmful, leading to dependency and addiction.
Today, various types of drugs, such as alcohol, morphine, heroin, cocaine,
and opium, affect the nervous system, particularly the brain, which controls
voluntary actions. When under the influence of a drug, a person may stumble
and lose their senses, making them susceptible to shameful behavior and
moral degradation. Continued addiction can also harm the digestive system,
especially the liver, and cause mental numbness, which is not an answer to
one's worries.
Drug addiction not only brings moral degradation, but it also ruins
individuals financially, as money that could be used to better oneself or
one's family is instead wasted on drugs. Addicts often hide their addiction,
knowing it is against religious sanctions and that it can lead to social and
familial ostracization. They can become a nuisance wherever they go and
bring misery to those around them.
Unfortunately, young people are increasingly turning to drugs like
marijuana, LSD, and opium under false pretenses. They fail to realize the
harmful effects and mistakenly believe that drugs will bring pleasure. It is
best to avoid the company of those who use or sell drugs and to remember the
physical, mental, moral, social, and financial dangers associated with drug
addiction.
In conclusion, drug addiction has been a problem for humanity for centuries,
and the dangers it poses cannot be overstated. While drugs may seem to
provide temporary relief or pleasure, the long-term consequences are
catastrophic. The best course of action is to avoid drugs altogether and
