Unforeseen Dangers on a Pilgrimage Journey |
|
A group of pilgrims set out in a van to reach a place of worship 75 kilometers
away from their homes. The group, consisting of men and women, were neo-rich and
had packed many trunks and suitcases filled with expensive clothing, jewelry,
and ornaments.
The road they took was not heavily trafficked and passed through barren land
with hillocks, an area notorious for robberies. A group of unemployed young men
had placed boulders on the road as a blockade, waiting to rob anyone passing by.
When the van reached the blockade, the driver couldn't maneuver the vehicle past
the large boulders. The gang attacked the group, commanded them to keep quiet,
and marched them to the foot of a hillock while some of the robbers ransacked
the van and stole everything of value.
The pilgrims were shocked and frightened, and the women couldn't even cry out.
Eventually, the group lodged a complaint with the police, who soon caught some
of the gang members, as they were habitual offenders.
The incident was covered in the press, and the prompt action by the police was
appreciated by the public. |
