When Life Stopped Moving |
|
One thing about Aaron — he could never sit still. He was young, full of energy,
always on the move, always busy. It never crossed his mind that one day, all of
that would come to a sudden halt.
Aaron had a vibrant school life. Blessed with a strong, healthy body, he thrived
in sports, especially in short sprints where he was among the best in the state.
Academically, he kept up well, doing just enough to earn a place at a
university.
University life was a mix of fun and studies. In three years, he graduated with
a Bachelor of Arts degree and soon landed a well-paying job at an international
company. Life seemed to be on his side.
Three months into his new job, Aaron bought a car — a second-hand vehicle
modified for speed. It suited him perfectly. He loved driving fast, tearing down
expressways at reckless speeds, convinced he was untouchable and that accidents
happened to other people, not him.
But one day, that belief shattered. While overtaking a tanker, he miscalculated.
His car clipped the tanker’s rear, sending his vehicle spinning uncontrollably
into the expressway’s crash barrier. The car was completely wrecked, yet by some
miracle, Aaron survived.
At the hospital, doctors treated his cuts and bruises. But there was one injury
they couldn’t fix — his spine was broken. He was paralyzed from the chest down.
That accident changed Aaron’s life forever. Gone were the days of moving freely.
Now, he was bound to a wheelchair. He had no choice but to sit still, whether he
liked it or not.
The first three months were the hardest. He fell into deep depression,
struggling to come to terms with his new reality. He lost his job, his car, and
the life he once knew. But as time passed, he realized he had to stop feeling
sorry for himself. His life wasn’t over — it was just different now. Slowly, he
began to accept his situation and took the first steps toward building a life
worth living again. |
