"Exercise is the Source of Health," I believe everyone has heard this phrase. However, in our country, there are still very few adults who engage in regular physical exercise, while the emphasis on tonics and supplements is increasing. The general notion of "tonics" includes both medicinal and dietary supplements. Personally, unless strongly recommended by a doctor, I do not take medicinal supplements. As for dietary supplements, I believe they should be taken in moderation. Why is that? Because excessive dietary supplementation can actually have adverse effects.

From my student days until now, I rarely get sick. Is it because I have a special immunity to diseases? Absolutely not. Throughout these decades, I have never stopped exercising. I firmly believe that the main reason I have abundant energy and can work eight hours a day without feeling tired is exercise. I have always believed that "exercise is better than medicinal supplements, and dietary supplements are better than exercise."

In modern society, people's lives are fast-paced. Some people are busy day and night with work or studies, turning into machines that never stop operating, even lacking enough time for sleep, let alone exercise. When they feel their health is subpar, they resort to health supplements or nutritional foods, thinking that they can enhance their constitution and reduce diseases. However, this view is half true.

Doctors and nutritionists point out that as long as a person's diet is balanced, with plenty of vegetables, fruits, bread, grains, legumes, and so on, they can obtain sufficient nutrition. As for medicinal supplements, excessive use can be harmful to the body. Only exercise is the fundamental solution. There is a saying in the West that goes, "Exercise can replace medicine, but medicine cannot replace exercise." Therefore, no matter how busy people are, they should allocate time for exercise, such as swimming, running, doing aerobics, and so on. Ideally, it should be done at least three times a week, with each session lasting at least half an hour. If someone finds exercising alone monotonous and difficult to sustain, they can choose competitive sports like soccer or badminton because competition can enhance interest in exercise and make it a consistent habit.

In Canton, Ohio, United States, there is a man named Condos who, on his 87th birthday, publicly performed one thousand sit-ups as a physical exercise. He told reporters, "I do gymnastics every day and have no dietary restrictions. I never take medicinal supplements. Exercise is my best medicine." In Singapore, there is a 75-year-old man named Mr. Chen, who has participated in many cross-country and marathon races in the past 18 years. During an interview with reporters, he repeatedly emphasized that neither medicinal nor dietary supplements can compare to exercise. He has been dedicated to daily physical exercise since his youth and never slackened, which is why he remains so robust.

In conclusion, modern people should adjust their lifestyles and cultivate the habit of regular exercise. Doctors say that exercise can strengthen the functioning of the body's organs, eliminate tension, invigorate the mind, make life more fulfilling, improve health, and even prolong life. These words are indeed words of wisdom. Therefore, I sincerely propose to everyone the phrase "Exercise is the Best Tonic," hoping that everyone will incorporate exercise into their daily lives, regularly strengthen their physique, and enjoy a healthy life.
