A lonely eagle felt lonely and longed for a close
friend. It searched among its kind for a long time but couldn't find one
that it liked. Either their beaks were too curved, their tails too
short, or their fur colors weren't beautiful enough. Finally, the eagle
became desperate and couldn't help but sigh, "God is so unkind. Why did
He only create me, a decent-looking eagle?"
However, the eagle didn't truly lose hope. It heard that the nightingale
had a beautiful voice, so it went to visit the nightingale. But after
listening to two songs from the nightingale, the eagle flew away
disappointedly, saying, "How can that be considered singing? It chirps
and screeches, screaming with a high-pitched voice. It's extremely
unpleasant! How can it compare to my powerful and melodious voice?"
Later, the eagle heard about the woodpecker's good reputation. However,
when it saw the woodpecker relentlessly pecking at a tree trunk, its
body straight and making constant knocking sounds, a feeling of extreme
disdain arose in its heart. It couldn't help but think, "From that
posture, it looks like a complete fool. What intelligent bird would be
willing to work so hard just to stand there? It takes half a day to
catch a tiny insect. How can it compare to my quick eyes and agile
claws?"
Afterward, the eagle became somewhat disheartened and had no choice but
to seek advice from the spirit of all things, a wise person.
It flew into a house and explained its distress and hopes to an elderly
person. The old person let out a hearty laugh and said, "Can't find a
like-minded friend that matches you? You've come at the right time
because I also have a pitiful and lonely eagle here that possesses all
the noble qualities you possess, and it doesn't have any of the flaws
you lack." After speaking, he pointed to the wall where a huge dressing
mirror stood, reflecting an identical eagle.
However, after our lonely eagle carefully examined the other eagle, just
like many times before, it was once again disappointed. It exclaimed,
"What outstanding qualities does it have? Its beak is just as ugly and
its feathers are a dull black!" And so, the eagle flew out of the house,
forgetting even the basic courtesy it should have shown. |

The eagle always thinks that other birds are inferior
to itself. If they're not unattractive, they have an unpleasant voice or
are clumsy, nothing like the eagle's own perceived excellence. |
2. |
|
When the eagle sees itself in the mirror, it doesn't
find anything outstanding, only an ugly beak and dark feathers. This
reflects the fact that the eagle doesn't have anything particularly
special about it; it's just that the eagle always looks down on other
birds and considers itself perfect. |

|
The eagle feels deceived by the elderly because there
isn't a single bird that can compare to itself, so it "flies out of the
house, forgetting even basic manners." |

If you only see the flaws in others and the strengths
in yourself, you won't truly understand others or make friends. The
world doesn't have anything that is perfect. It's important to learn to
be tolerant in order to get along well with friends. |
