Jay and his friends, Harold and Shawna, were flying their kites
at the beach. It was a windy, cloudy day—the perfect weather for kite-flying.
Laughing and cheering, the children competed to see whose kite could soar the
highest.
But soon, the wind picked up, and the clouds darkened ominously. A few moments
later, heavy raindrops began falling on their heads. Startled, the children
quickly reeled in their kites. Then came the low, rumbling sound of thunder,
echoing across the sky. It made their hearts race.
Without wasting another second, the children dashed toward the nearest shelter.
Unfortunately, it was quite a distance away. Rain pelted down on them, soaking
their clothes right through to the skin. Mud squelched beneath their feet,
filling their shoes. Shawna shouted to the boys, urging them to catch up—she was
heading for the closest chalet by the beach.
By the time they arrived, they were drenched from head to toe. Rainwater dripped
from their hair, arms, and legs, forming little puddles beneath them. Exhausted
but relieved, they waited quietly, hoping the gloomy skies would soon clear.
Though wet and muddy, the children knew they’d remember this rainy adventure for
a long time. |
