Joyce and Magdeline decided to meet at the bus interchange for lunch.
Since it was the last week of their holidays and they would have little
time to spend together when the new school term begins, the girls decided to enjoy themselves.
However, everything seemed to go wrong that day. First, Magdeline
was late, which angered Joyce. The minute the girls met, Joyce lashed out at
Magdeline for being late. Magdeline retaliated, reasoning
that she could not find a proper pair of shoes since her mischievous
dog had hidden them. Joyce did not pursue the issue and the girls decided to go to Burger King for lunch.
It was crowded when they got to the fast-food restaurant. Since Joyce
refused to eat anything other than burgers for lunch, the girls had to join the queue.
The cashier told them that their food would be delivered to them promptly
because they did not have enough burgers to cater to the lunch-time crowd.
The girls were hungry and annoyed but they sat and talked about other topics to distract themselves from their hunger.
When the waiter finally arrived with their burgers, Magdeline found
that he had brought the wrong order. She was close to losing her temper
when Joyce said that she did not mind the wrong orders since she was so hungry.
The girls were munching away when they heard a commotion coming from the
other corner of the room. Two school boys were apparently fighting with each other.
They were just short of throwing French fries at each other when the manager threatened to call the police.
The boys looked so dejected after
that incident that Joyce and Magdeline could not help laughing. That incident
made the girls realize that they should not let their petty differences
get in the way of their eight-year relationship with each other. |
