Your father has planned a holiday in Bangkok for the mid-year school holidays. He has asked you if you would like to invite a friend to go on the trip as well. Write to your friend and invite him/her to join you and your parents.

Dear Winnie

How are you and your family? I do hope you are all well and happy. It has been some time since I have written, but life has been very busy. I thought that being in Form 4 would be a breeze and we could just relax, but that is not so. We have tons of homework, co-curricular activities and extra classes almost every day. But I shall not complain. Hard work finally does pay off.

Anyway, I am looking forward to the next holiday, which is just around the corner. Have you made any plans? My father has booked a holiday in Bangkok and I was wondering if you would like to join us. There are just the three of us, so if you came it would make a nice foursome. How about it?

Let me tell you what we plan to do. We shall leave on Friday morning at about 11 o'clock. Once we have arrived in Bangkok and checked in at our hotel we shall do some sightseeing just around the area. The next morning, we plan to take the sky train to the jetty. We'll cruise down the Chao Phraya, stop at the Temple of Dawn and visit other interesting sites, such as the floating market. The evenings will be free for shopping, so we can shop till we drop!

Most of our meals will be at the hotel. We also plan to sample the local food at various food courts. I hear the food is both delicious and cheap. You enjoy `tom yam', so don't miss the chance to sample it in its country of origin. I'm also hoping to try the crunchy locusts and creepy-crawlies sold by the hawkers.

We will be spending 4 days and 3 nights in Bangkok. We'll be home on Monday at about 8.30 in the evening. You could spend the night with us and take the bus down to Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday morning.

How do you feel about this? I know you are already busy preparing for the SPM, but could you take a break and come along? I would love having you around. Do think about it. I suggest you do all the studying you have to do now. That way you won't feel so bad about a holiday in Bangkok! Let me know soon about your decision. Dad wants to buy the tickets and he would need to know how many tickets to get. I do hope you can make it. Write soon.

Your friend,
