Honoring Our Teachers |
|
Datuk Usman Awang once said that every leader and professional begins with a
teacher. This powerful statement highlights the crucial role teachers play in
shaping the future. With sincerity and dedication, they guide students without
expecting anything in return. Their sacrifices deserve deep appreciation.
One of the most meaningful ways to show gratitude is through respectful
behavior. As emphasized by former Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin
Hussein, respect begins at home. Students can show appreciation by speaking
politely, paying attention in class, and not disturbing lessons. A warm smile
and courteous attitude go a long way in recognizing a teacher’s effort.
Discipline is another form of appreciation. Arriving on time, wearing proper
uniforms, and following school rules ease a teacher’s task. When students behave
well, teaching becomes more effective. This mutual cooperation leads to academic
and personal growth.
Beyond the classroom, love and concern should be shown. Celebrating Teachers’
Day on May 16, even with a simple greeting, can deeply touch a teacher’s heart.
Visiting them during tough times or when they are unwell shows true compassion
and respect. Small acts of kindness, like bringing gifts or raising funds during
hardship, can mean the world to them.
Lastly, always keep teachers in our prayers. Wishing them health, safety, and
peace — in life and after — reflects our lasting gratitude. Like the saying
goes, “A dead tiger leaves its stripes, a dead man his name.”
In short, the service of teachers is priceless. Let us honor them not just in
words, but in actions — so their teachings continue to bless our lives. |
