Importance of Balanced Diet to the Body
 
A balanced diet is a type of diet that prioritizes certain types of food where nutritious content is the main element in a person's diet. This practice is often advocated by health experts to encourage every member of society to practice proper nutrition in their daily routine. According to statistics through the National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) in 2015, Malaysia has become an obese country, where one in two adults is overweight or obese. This scenario may continue with the development of the fast food industry in Malaysia and viral food sales gimmicks, where health is becoming increasingly disregarded by the community. Therefore, this diet is one of the efforts that can be highlighted to restore the health of the people comprehensively. The question is, what is the importance of a balanced diet to our body?

A balanced diet is essential because it provides beneficial substances and nutrients for the growth of the human body. Our body is an organism that requires sufficient nutrients and substances to perform organ functions, help in energy production, eliminate toxic waste from the body, and perform various other functions. For example, the intake of a diet containing dairy products such as milk and cheese can increase calcium production in the body and strengthen human bones and teeth. Iron contained in meat and spinach, for example, can ensure that the circulatory system in the body becomes more efficient and functions smoothly. Therefore, children should practice proper nutrition so that optimum nutrients and substances can be enjoyed, and physical growth can improve.

In addition, it is important to reduce the risk of a person developing dangerous diseases. Most of us like to eat fast food and snacks that are not nutritious but delicious in taste. For your information, these foods contain high cholesterol, salt, sugar, and fat. If we eat snacks or fast food too often, we will have a high risk of developing obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and stroke. Therefore, proper nutrition that determines the quantity of the type of food that we consume can prevent us from developing diseases and directly improve our level of personal health. As the Malay proverb goes, "regret comes first before income, regret comes later and is useless." Health experts have introduced the food pyramid as a guide for everyone to plan a balanced diet. Now it is our responsibility to practice this healthy diet so that its benefits can be enjoyed together.

At the same time, this practice can provide stable mental health and more efficient and effective memory development. There is a phrase that states that what we eat becomes our flesh and blood, as an analogy, if we consume good food, then our physical and mental health will be good. Based on scientific studies, the human brain is the center of control for the entire body system influenced by the nutrients in our diet. Minerals such as calcium and sodium are involved in the process of impulse transmission in our nervous system. Ultimately, nutrition somewhat affects the physical and mental formation of a person. As the gemstone word of Imam As Syafie states, overeating or consuming non-nutritious foods makes the body heavy, the heart becomes hard, eliminates intelligence, causes frequent sleep, and weakens worship.

Lastly, proper nutrition is very important to be practiced by every individual because it helps to improve one's physical beauty. In this era that emphasizes the latest image and appearance, many people often forget to focus on their diet, which is essential to maintain physical beauty. Practicing a balanced diet is the key to enhancing natural beauty as a healthy body reflects a beautiful appearance.
