The Advantages of Malaysia as a Tourist Destination |
|
One sector that contributes to the economic growth of Malaysia is the tourism
sector. Every day, the number of tourists entering the country increases year by
year. The country's tourism industry is now the sixth-largest contributor to the
economy, with a contribution of RM161 billion or 14.9 percent based on Gross
Domestic Product (GDP) in 2014, according to a report by Berita Harian Online on
October 17, 2015. This figure exceeded the expected 8.1 million tourists who
were predicted to come to Malaysia that year. These statistics show that tourism
has great potential to be developed and remain a contributor to the country's
economy. The question is, what are the reasons why tourists choose Malaysia as a
tourist destination?
One of the main reasons why Malaysia is a popular choice among tourists,
especially foreign tourists, is because of the country's natural resources found
throughout the country. Our country is located on the equator line which
provides a different climate compared to European, American, and Western Asian
countries. Most of them like to visit Malaysia during the winter or summer
season because the weather in Malaysia provides an atmosphere that they like.
The Malaysian government has been proactive in promoting national parks that are
rich in natural beauty and contributing to the tourism industry. Visitors from
abroad will travel to national parks such as Taman Negara Pahang, which
encompasses forests, mountains, rivers, and various flora and fauna. In addition
to enjoying the natural beauty that is not found in other countries, tourists
can engage in various activities such as mountain climbing, fishing, camping,
and many more. The experience of spending time surrounded by nature is one of
the main attractions for tourists to visit Malaysia.
Another reason why tourists choose Malaysia as a country to visit is the
beautiful islands and beaches that surround it. The natural resources in our
country are not only found on land but also in the sea, which provides various
natural beauties that we can enjoy. For example, Tioman Island in Pahang and
Sipadan Island in Sabah are popular among tourists because of the beautiful
beaches and coral reefs that make scuba diving more attractive. Even in
Malaysia, they can visit not only two or three islands but they can also visit
nearly 30 islands that provide an attractive tourist atmosphere. In addition,
the beaches around Peninsular Malaysia are also beautiful. Tourists can enjoy
the gentle breeze while eating traditional Malaysian dishes such as Fried Fish
and Sata, which are popular in the east coast states.
From another point of view, Malaysia is the choice of tourists because of its
conducive infrastructure facilities. Before choosing a tourist destination, they
certainly look for comfortable transportation and the best services available.
Praise should be given to the country's transportation industry, such as airline
companies that have successfully become agents of the country's uniqueness in
the eyes of the world. With their world-class services, tourists feel
comfortable traveling and arrive safely at their intended destinations. The
highway and rail networks, such as the Light Rail Transit (LRT), commuter, and
monorail systems also facilitate the mobility of tourists. In addition, the
communication networks that provide internet services in tourist hotspots also
add value to the area. Tourists can rest and not miss out on work affairs, where
the internet is the main source of communication networks worldwide. As a result
of a conducive and world-class infrastructure, more tourists will come to
Malaysia to enjoy the various attractions that the country has to offer. |
